A sculpture i made this year out for Forton and gold leaf.
the sculpture was an experiment in the use of iconic images.
its a step away from my usual stuff but i was asked to make a piece for a artshow themed around the heart.
the piece is supposed to use a anatomical heart and transform it into a aura/religuse icon.
its made by castings from a model heart and using a casting system called forton making a duplicate (actualy made a plaster of the heart first and then altered it and made a second cast which is scene in the photo.)
the viens/roots coming from the heart where scupted from wax and made in forton as well and epoxed to the heart. finaly the whole thing is covered with gold leaf. see another angle [link]
