Pixel Elvis

This is the fisrt stage in a Intaglio Print i'm making using pixel art.

I created a pixel portrait of Elvis and limited my paller to 15 shades of gray, then i made 15 different 1bit pixel head shots of elvis based on photos, at 80x80 pixels.

I then replaced the 15 shades of gray with images of the 1bit images, each shade got a different 1bit images of elvis depending on the relationship of how much black to white % was in the 1bit image to how gray in the elvis image.

thats how i got this.

now i'm having this image transfered to film (35$ for a 18x25 sheet of film ) and am going to be burning in into a copper plate covered with emultion. then i'll drop that plate into acid, etching the inmage into the copper and abeling me to start to print this image. I'll be printing it in white on black velvet and in 15 shades of gray (mixing 15 seperate shades on ink and whiping them onto the plate one by one)onto blue swade .....I'm crazy buy theres a method to this madness thats bassed on a series of works in curently making now that im persuing a perfession as an artest print maker. i'll explain the ideas behind my work in my journal in the near future.

THIS IMAGE is not actualy pixelart cuz it too fricken big at 300 DPI (b/c i have to print with it), not at the usual 72 DPI. this image was converted to 72 DPI so its become anti-alius'ed, but you'll still get the idea behind the image b/c of its shere size.
